FOR REMOTE WORKERS

Move Away From the Screen

Long hours at a desk have a way of settling into the body without anyone noticing. The shoulders creep forward, the neck holds on, and the hips stop moving. By late afternoon, stiffness feels like part of the workday.

Gentle hatha yoga offers a simple way to step away from the screen. Live online classes, taught from anywhere in the world, bring slow movement and steady breathing into your routine, even when your workspace is just a corner of the kitchen table.

A Ten-Minute Desk Reset

Long stretches at a screen can leave your body feeling stiff and your attention scattered. This short sequence fits between calls or emails, needs no equipment, and can be repeated whenever you pause. Move slowly, breathe easily, and stop anywhere that doesn't feel right.

  1. 1

Stand, breathe, and notice your posture

Rise from your chair, let your feet settle, and take three slow breaths while you notice how you have been sitting.

  2. 2

    Release the neck and shoulders

Roll your shoulders back gently several times, then let your head tilt softly from side to side.

  3. 3

    Side stretch and gentle twist

Reach one arm overhead and lean to the opposite side, then turn your torso lightly toward the chair back and return to center.

  4. 4

Fold forward or rest in child's pose

Bend forward from the hips with soft knees, or kneel and rest your forehead toward the floor, staying here for a few breaths.

  5. 5

    Close with three slow breaths

Come back to standing or sitting, take three unhurried breaths, and return to your work when you feel ready. If you have back pain, check with a health professional before you begin, and read more in our hatha yoga for stress relief page.
